The University of Olivet Focuses on Delivering Career-Ready, Mission-Centered Curriculum
In a bold step toward the future, The University of Olivet is reimagining its academic programs to meet the evolving needs of students and the modern workforce. The updates align with the Olivet 2030 Vision—a strategic plan built on sustainable growth, student success and purpose-driven education.
In the coming months, Olivet’s faculty and academic leadership will continue working collaboratively to shape a mission-aligned, future-ready academic structure for its on-campus and online undergraduate and graduate programs. Among the expected changes:
- A transition from siloed departments to interdisciplinary academic schools, each built around a shared liberal arts core and infused with professional studies.
- More flexible degree pathways, allowing students to tailor their learning to better match their career and graduate school goals.
- Expanded opportunities to blend online and in-person learning, creating a more adaptable and accessible student experience.
- Accelerated pathways to graduate degrees, enabling students to earn a master’s degree in less time and at lower cost.
“These updates reflect our commitment to students and the future of higher education,” said President Steven M. Corey, Ph.D. “They are not easy decisions, but they are essential ones. I am proud of our faculty and academic leaders for leaning into this work with courage, collaboration and a shared purpose—to prepare students for meaningful lives and careers in an ever-changing world.”
The coming changes are part of a broader evolution of The University of Olivet becoming a more comprehensive institution. Recent years have seen steady enrollment growth, rising student retention and increased demand for graduate and online programs. The curriculum redesign builds on this momentum. At its June 2025 meeting, the board of trustees of The University of Olivet unanimously endorsed the forward-looking set of academic reforms.
Further updates will be shared as the planning continues and formal recommendations are finalized.
