Matthew Brown has been named regional director of development at The University of Olivet, according to an announcement by BJ Hull, vice president for advancement. As a representative of the college, Brown, who began July 6, is responsible for identifying and cultivating individuals and corporations with an interest in supporting the mission of Olivet.

“We are excited to have Matt as part of our advancement team,” Hull said. “His knowledge and expertise in fundraising and development will be an asset to the college as we continue to grow and develop relationships that support Olivet’s strategic vision, Charting the Course for 2020 and Beyond.”

Brown previously served as regional director of advancement at Alma College. During his tenure, he developed and built relationships with major donors to secure gifts for the college’s current campaign.

Prior to Alma, Brown served as director of student housing and intramurals at the Lindquist Student & Conference Center at Gogebic Community College in Ironwood. In this capacity, Brown operated the college’s fitness facilities, including a pool, gymnasium, weight rooms, cardio rooms and athletic fields, as well as all classes held in such areas while supervising a staff of 10 full-time employees.

A resident of Lansing, Brown earned an associate’s degree from Gogebic Community College and bachelor’s degree from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario; he is currently expecting to complete a master’s degree in sports science from the United States Sports Academy in May of 2016.
