The Guido A. and Elizabeth H. Binda Foundation has awarded The University of Olivet a $225,000 grant to support the launch of the college’s new Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program in partnership with Kellogg Community College (KCC).

“We are grateful to the Guido A. and Elizabeth H. Binda Foundation for its tremendous support. In choosing to assist The University of Olivet, the Foundation is helping nurses in the Battle Creek region reach their full potential and achieve their dreams of attaining a bachelor’s degree,” said The University of Olivet President Steven M. Corey, Ph.D. “We are proud to launch this new RN-BSN program in partnership with Kellogg Community College with a focus on Battle Creek.”

The University of Olivet RN-BSN program is the only one located in Battle Creek. This community-based learning model will connect classroom-based work with meaningful community involvement and exchange, while an augmented online component provides working nurses with the flexibility they need to successfully undertake and complete their BSN degree while balancing career and family. Both nursing students and the Battle Creek community overall will benefit directly from this new program.

In its award notification letter to The University of Olivet, Nancy L. Taber, executive director of the Guido A. and Elizabeth H. Binda Foundation stated, “The Binda Board commends Dr. Corey and all of the partners involved in the development of this program designed to serve the Greater Battle Creek area. In addition to providing an advanced degree that supports workforce development, this program is designed to enhance the overall community’s health and wellness.”

The Guido A. and Elizabeth H. Binda Foundation is a private foundation that provides philanthropic support to nonprofit organizations benefiting the residents of Calhoun County.
