The University of Olivet rewards students for talents in and out of the classroom
Being a Block House Esports League (BEL) high school or community college esports athlete has its rewards, thanks to a unique partnership with The University of Olivet. Academically eligible BEL esports athletes who attend a high school or community college and plan to attend or transfer to UOlivet will be automatically admitted through the Olivet Direct! program and be eligible for scholarship opportunities.
Olivet Direct! makes the admissions process faster and easier for qualified students. Direct admission allows high-achieving students to lock in their acceptance without requiring them to go through the traditional admissions process.
The University of Olivet launched the Olivet Direct! Program in 2022 and currently partners with 24 school districts, community colleges and organizations.
“This innovative collaboration between Block House Esports League and The University of Olivet opens the door to all students who desire a deeply immersive relationship-based education and the opportunity to further hone their skills in the dynamic world of competitive esports,” said President Steven M. Corey, Ph.D. “We are thrilled to partner with BEL to make a private college education more attainable to students through our direct admission program, generous financial awards structure and growing competitive esports team.”
Scholarship Opportunities
BEL’s most valuable esports athlete of the year in the high school and community college leagues will also be eligible to receive a $2,500 renewable UOlivet scholarship. Other esports athletes who attend UOlivet and are members of the competitive esports team may earn an annual scholarship of up to $2,000.
A bonus for qualified BEL esports high school esports athletes is The University of Olivet ADVANTAGE Scholarship, which covers the full cost of published tuition and general fees after all federal, state, and institutional grants and scholarships are applied. To qualify for full tuition, seniors must be eligible for the Michigan Achievement Scholarship, be Pell-eligible and have been a Michigan resident for at least one year. The Olivet ADVANTAGE Scholarship aims to guarantee students, especially first-generation students and those from low-to-moderate-income families throughout Michigan, a quality, relationship-based college experience.
