MBA Curriculum

Program Format

We deliver our courses through a blended online approach featuring live, interactive, streamed classes where students and faculty interact with each other in real time along with the use of Blackboard for assignments, offline professor interaction, exams, and participation in discussion threads and projects. Live classes run from 6 to 9:30 p.m. EST, Monday through Thursday, but Flexschedule allows you to participate on your own schedule, 24/7.

Classes are on a rotational basis with five terms a year (August, October, January, March, June). Each term is eight weeks in length. You can start any term.

Required MBA Courses

A total of 33 credits must be completed to earn the degree with at least 21 credits earned at The University of Olivet.

  • MBA 808 – Management and Organizational Behavior with a Diverse Workforce
  • MBA 809 – Strategic Marketing
  • MBA 810 – Managerial Economics
  • MBA 811 – Corporate Accounting and Finance
  • MBA 820 – Quantitative Analysis and Decision Making for Management
  • MBA 830 – Ethics and Leadership
  • MBA 891 – Strategic Management and Leadership (capstone)

Electives

Olivet offers a wide range of elective courses including: Personal Financial Planning, Operations Management, Negotiations, Employee Benefits, Risk Assessment, Insurance and Risk Management, Business and Insurance Law, Property–Casualty Insurance Contracts, Reinsurance Principles and Practices, Commercial Property Risk Management and Insurance, and Surplus Lines Insurance Operations.

Recognition of Earned Credits

The University of Olivet MBA program recognizes that MBA students may demonstrate mastery of select course content through graduate coursework or through professional designations such as CPCU®, CPA®, CFA®, or FRM®. As many as twelve credits may be waived or transferred. Applications for course waivers and transfer credits are accepted following admittance into the MBA program.
