One of the things I value most about Olivet is that we don’t expect students to fit a particular mold. We believe every person has unique gifts, talents and a purpose worth discovering. Our role is to help students find their place, grow in confidence and become the people they aspire to be.
Since our founding in 1844, Olivet has believed that higher education should do more than prepare students for successful careers; it should prepare students to lead lives of purpose, service and responsibility. That belief continues to guide everything we do.
At Olivet, we believe you shouldn’t have to change who you are to belong. We want you to find your place, discover your strengths and grow into the person you’re meant to become. One of the greatest privileges of our work is helping students recognize what they have to contribute to the world and equipping them to make a meaningful difference.
Many of our students are the first in their families to attend college, and we celebrate the determination, experiences and perspectives they bring to our campus. That’s one reason genuine relationships are at the heart of the Olivet experience. Our faculty and staff take the time to know students as individuals, providing the encouragement, mentorship and support that help them succeed academically, personally and professionally.
As we continue to build on our rich history, we remain focused on preparing students for the future while staying true to the values that have defined Olivet for more than 180 years. Together, we are cultivating a community where every student is known, challenged, supported and inspired to lead a life of purpose.
