Student Organization of the Year Award
The Student Organization of the Year Award is presented to the student organization that showed great growth, leadership and support to the The University of Olivet community in the past year through their demonstrations of professionalism, ethics, attitude, cooperation, promotional efforts, the involvement of students, teamwork, reliability and creativity of events. This year, the award is given to Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS), OC’s professional insurance and risk management fraternity. GIS held programs that provided rich learning opportunities for personal growth and career development. Programs that specifically stood out include the annual professional career fair in January, the presentation “African American Insurance Leaders: Working in the Insurance Industry” in February and a new virtual career fair in April.
Student Government Association Leadership Award
The Student Government Association (SGA) Leadership Award is presented to a student who has shown outstanding leadership with SGA and has worked to make SGA have a positive impact on the College as a whole. This year, the award is given to graduating seniors Jack Caporuscio and Raphaela Birtulescu.
Jack is a graduating senior majoring in English from Armada. Jack served as the SGA president this year and as a resident adviser. He also moved into the assistant community director position this year. He was a member of the Global Citizen Honors Program and a fellow of the President’s Leadership Institute. Jack was also the editor in chief of the Garfield Lake Review this year.
Raphaela Birtulescu is a graduating senior double major in accounting and English from Lake Orion.  Raphaela has served as the treasurer of SGA for the last two years, as well as a member of the Accounting Student Organization, Sigma Tau Delta and Xicano Club.
The Office of Student Engagement extends their thanks to both Jack and Raphaela for their outstanding leadership and commitment to making a difference to the student experience at The University of Olivet.
Resident Adviser of the Year Award
The Resident Adviser of the Year Award is presented to an exemplary resident adviser who is there for his or her residents, timely with assignments, enjoys his or her position and communicates effectively. This year, the Resident Advisor of the Year Award is given to Patrick Gault. Patrick is a rising senior majoring in criminal justice from Hamilton. He is a member of the swimming and diving team and the Criminal Justice Honor Society. He also serves as an assistant community director. Patrick was also awarded the Outstanding Leadership in Crisis Award.
Outstanding Leadership in Crisis
This award is given to Student Engagement student workers who chose to return to their duties to help on campus during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Brandie Pomeroy is a graduating senior majoring in criminal justice from Plainwell. She served as president of the Criminal Justice Honor Society, is a graduate of the Women’s Leadership Institute and is a member of the National Organization for Women.  She also worked in the Campus Safety Office.
Jaideep Narayanan is a graduating senior majoring in graphic design from Baengalore, India. He is a resident adviser and is a member of the athletic band, Art Alliance and the Boxing Club.
Chad Enwright is a rising junior from Melbourne, Ontario, Canada, majoring in business administration with a double concentration in management and marketing. He is on the football team, a resident adviser and a member of the Global Citizen Honors Program and Phi Beta Lambda. In addition, Chad has been recognized for four semesters in a row on the President’s List.
Caleb Graham is a rising junior majoring in criminal justice and psychology from Mason. He is on the men’s soccer team, is a resident adviser and is a member of the Archives Student Research Team.
