Major grant funding supports a stronger graduation attainment program for students over the next six years

The University of Olivet was recently awarded a total of $2.8 million in grant funding, with $2.2 million in funding through the Title III Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP) and more than $550,000 through the Martin Luther King, Jr.-César Chávez-Rosa Parks (KCp) Initiative to develop stronger graduation attainment support for students over the next six years.

Associate Provost for Student Development KayDee Perry, Ed.D, and her team secured the significant resources to develop a comprehensive student success strategy, which includes numerous elements such as using cutting-edge technology like an artificial intelligence “chatbot” specifically for students, expanding the availability of online degree completion programs, and employing student success and career navigators who directly assist students and expand their support network, among other initiatives.

Through the support of the major grant funding, the student success plan will increase student retention in the first year and beyond and will lead to increasing degree completion.

“The award of these grants is a credit to the work being done at The University of Olivet and our vision as an institution to move us and our students forward,” Perry said.
